Why You Need a Copywriter

Website readers don't hang around long so you've got to grab their attention in just seconds. First impressions are vital. While design is important, it will only go so far. Instead, it is content that encourages visitors to spend time browsing your website.

If you're noticing high 'bounce rates' in your website stats, your content isn't doing a good enough job. This could be for a number of several reasons, but common factors include:

Content that isn't well-written and doesn't read wellKeywords not being targeted to hook the right visitorsPoorly inserted keywords that give the impression of spam

Why You Need Me

I'm a professional writer who can create targeted website content that entices visitors and encourages them to browse long enough to become customers. I can do this through website copy, articles and blog posts that speak directly to your visitors. I can't promise definite sales - that depends on the quality of your products and services, and how much demand there is for them - but getting prospective customers to find your website and spend time browsing is half the battle.

Web copy - As you only have seconds to impress visitors to your website, your homepage needs to contain the important information about who you are and how you and your products/services can help them without losing their attention. More details can be included on other pages, but you risk missing out on vital sales if you get it wrong on the homepage.

Articles - This is another opportunity to demonstrate your expertise by providing articles that offer useful advice. For example, a hairdresser can offer articles advising how to copy a particular hairstyle. Through subtly inserted keywords, anyone searching for this type of advice is likely to come across your website and becomes a prospective customer.

Blog posts - Many websites now have an accompanying blog. As blogs are frequently updated, they tend to appear higher up in the search engine results than websites. Because of this, they can generate more website traffic. By having a blog as one of the pages of your website, you can drive website traffic to your website, thus increasing the chances of netting more customers.

I can write several blogs posts a week, offering informative tips and advice to readers and encouraging them to commit to your business. For example, for a hairdressing salon, blog posts on topics relating to current hairstyle trends, with specific mentions of how your salon can help customers (for example, cutting their hair in the selected style on which the blog post focuses, or highlight products sold in the salon that can help to solve bad hair days) are a great way to promote your business in a subtle way, while also offering potential customers helpful advice. This makes them more likely to visit your business in the future as it demonstrates how you can help them.

Newsletters - For valued (i.e. regular) customers, you may wish to keep them abreast of offers and promotions so that they can take advantage of them. Sending them a newsletter is a great way of doing this. It has the added advantage of enticing them to visit your business when they may not otherwise have been intending to. Given the current economic climate, many people are making big cutbacks on non-essential and luxury outgoings, but may make an exception for offers and promotions.

Advertorials - These are a cross between traditional articles and adverts, and are designed to sell your products or business to potential customers without sounding like a hard sales pitch. At first glance, they look much the same as an article, but contain subtle advertising to entice customers.
